Discover the Realms of Maezhiir

On History
At the dawn of the Third Age, the Eight Kings of the Known Realms laid down centuries of rivalry to forge a single governing body: the Senate. For the first time in recorded history, the rulers of the realm chose unity over conquest, appointing representatives from each of their baronies to govern in their name.
The Senate’s first act would shape every generation that followed.
Magic was declared forbidden.
The practice, study, and possession of it became crimes against the realm. Ancient orders were dismantled. Relics were seized. Libraries vanished into ash. Those who clung to the old ways were hunted until their names faded into legend.
The Senate claimed that magic had nearly brought about the end of the world.
Whether history remembers that truth… or merely the version that survived… is a question few still dare to ask.
Centuries passed.
The old symbols became marks of heresy. The ancient Schools of Magic were forgotten. Stories of the First and Second Ages slipped into myth, and what little remained was dismissed as superstition.
The Senate had not simply outlawed magic.
It had erased the memory of it.
But history has a way of refusing to stay buried.
Across the Known Realms, forgotten relics are stirring once more. Long-abandoned places whisper with strange power, and the impossible has begun to happen again. Like a parasite searching for new hosts, magic has started to spread through the world, changing all it touches.
Most believe it impossible.
Some know better.
And in the shadows between forgotten history and the uncertain future, one traveler walks the old roads still.
He is known only as The Shagal.
